Hi everyone, this week’s tip is all about buying the fashion staples and comes with a bit of a personal backstory. I’m a big city girl and moved to a smaller town for University. This left me with a big predicament: there were no major clothing shops. This was when I really began shopping for clothing online.
In my opinion, you can’t beat great quality staple items like jeans, skirts and blazers. Since the town I moved to didn’t have a Gap or Banana Republic, I started there first. The fantastic part about this was the super minimal risk; you can return items in store (meaning a drive into the city for me) and shipping was free and super fast. One time I even bought an outfit for a job interview that was two days away and received it within 24 hours. Also, their customer service is incredible and their is almost always a promotion going on to save you some money (plus ebates.com cash back!) Gap and Banana Republic may not be high-end designers, but their quality is great and their prices are always good in my opinion. Plus, Banana Republic has had some great collaboration collections come out lately from the designer on Mad Men, and their latest with high-end designer, Milly.

Some other great websites for basics are Asos.com for more clothing options with a nod to European design, and Amazon.com because they have seriously everything, and at a discount. A great staple to buy from Amazon especially is a watch. I have never beaten the deals I get on watches through Amazon and always recommend them to even the pickiest of watch lovers.
ASOS website: great dresses especially!
A quick tip to note about watches, especially designer watches, is to have a look to see who really makes their products. I recently found out that Fossil makes all of the Michael Kors watches, and you can get Fossil watches with the same look as the MK ones but without the big price tag.
