Ahh Free People, where do I even start? They’re very bohemian styles have won my heart time and time again. Their website is almost like a social network with people making posts of outfit inspirations related to the item you’re currently viewing. Also, there are lots of reviews for practically every item being offered, so you can get some ideas as to the fit and quality of each item. I’ve ordered from FreePeople.com quite a few times and have always been pleased with their service. My items were always shipped out within 2 business days, and you have lots of shipping options to choose from. You can opt to prepay duty if you’re shipping across the border (18% of the order) with either regular post (USPS, with tracking) or courier (DHL) for a bit more money. I would personally only prepay the duty if you’re ordering shoes, a lot of items, expensive items, or using courier services. Smaller orders through regular post often don’t get checked for duty/tax, especially with the upcoming holiday season.
Now let’s get to the nitty-gritty: the pros, cons, and the clothes. The clothes: I’ve always been satisfied with the quality of the clothes I’ve received; everything fit as I expected it to and the fabrics were all lovely and just as described on the site. One thing to be wary of is that a lot of their items are sheer and are styled in the photos with slips underneath. The reviews will almost always point this out if the description itself doesn’t though. I find that the reviews are the most helpful part of the site, especially when it comes to fit. Women who comment often tell you their height/weight and the size they ordered, and of this was the right size/fit or not.
Pros: Huge selection of items, including shoes, swimwear, accessories and clothes, many of which are internet-exclusive; user reviews make buying with confidence easier; being able to pay with Paypal also makes buying with confidence easier; high quality items with unique styles; lots of shipping options available; shipping is prompt and always has tracking; the sales are often fantastic, items get marked down quite a lot so I often find myself looking there first.
Cons: Some item photos are misleading in terms of fit, sheerness, length, etc.; some items are very overpriced, or just plain expensive; no promo codes for great deals.
Happy shopping everyone!
