How retailers are changing the game with online reservations


Gap and Banana Republic have found a great new way for people to order clothes online without the risk. They did this by creating an online reservation system. Here’s how it works: Consumers can reserve up to five items online to try on in a Banana Republic or Gap store. Within an hour, they receive an email or text confirming their items are on hold, along with pick up instructions. Items are held in their selected store until close of the following day.

This really changes everything for people who are skeptical or hesitant about ordering online; imagine a big sale going on and instead of fighting people off for your purchases, you can log into their website and reserve everything in your size and come in at your leisure to make sure everything is up to your standards. No risk.

Right now, Gap and Banana Republic are the first to roll out this service (US only at the moment), but you can bet that other large retailers won’t be far behind!
